Ingredients
3tablespoonsolive oil
1smallclove garlic, minced
1(10.5 ounce) can condensed tomato soup
¼cupbottled marinara sauce
5 1/4ounceswater
1teaspoonchopped fresh oregano, or to taste
½teaspoonground black pepper
1tablespoonchopped fresh basil, or more to taste
6Italian-style seasoned croutons, or as needed
2tablespoonsgrated Parmesan cheese
Directions
Heat olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté until tender and fragrant, 2 to 3 minutes. Stir in condensed soup and marinara. Fill the soup can halfway with water, swirl, and slowly pour into the soup.
Add oregano and pepper; bring to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low and cook until the flavors blend, about 15 minutes. Stir in basil.
Ladle into bowls and top with croutons and Parmesan cheese.
Cook’s Note
I usually add a pinch of sugar to tomato-based sauces, but I'm not sure this needed it.
