Beer-Boiled Shrimp with Old Bay Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4(12 ounce) bottlesbeer
  • 1tablespoonseafood seasoning (such as Old Bay)
  • 1teaspoonsalt
  • 1lemon, halved crosswise
  • 1 ½poundsfresh shrimp, with shells and tails on

  • Directions

    Combine beer, seafood seasoning, and salt in a large stockpot or saucepan over medium-high heat; squeeze in juice from lemon halves, adding both rinds. Stir; bring to a boil. Cover the pot; boil for 10 minutes.

    Add shrimp to boiling liquid, cover the pot, and remove from heat. Transfer shrimp to serving bowls when shells bright pink and meat opaque, about 3 minutes.



    Cook’s Note

    You can use your favorite shellfish boil seasoning instead of Old Bay, if desired.

    Get head-on shrimp if you can. And if you use frozen, make sure they are completely thawed before cooking.
