Ingredients

  • 1cupcooked rice
  • ½smallonion, chopped
  • ¼cupshredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1largeegg, beaten
  • 1teaspoonminced garlic
  • ¼teaspoonsalt
  • ¼teaspoonred pepper flakes (Optional)
  • ¼teaspoonground black pepper, or more to taste
  • ¼teaspoonchopped fresh parsley, or to taste (Optional)
  • 1pinchonion powder, or to taste (Optional)
  • 1tablespoonvegetable oil, or as needed

  • Directions

    Mix together cooked rice, onion, Cheddar cheese, egg, garlic, salt, red pepper flakes, black pepper, parsley, and onion powder by hand in a large bowl until well combined. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

    From rice mixture into 4 small patties.

    Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry patties in hot oil until lightly browned, about 5 minutes per side.



    Recipe Tips

    You can add about 2/3 cup of leftover meat, such as shredded beef, pork, chicken, or ground beef, and you can use whatever type of cheese you like.

    Be careful when flipping the patties. They sometimes break but are still tasty.
